ÃÛÌÒµ¼º½ was established in 1908 by pioneer physician Dr. James Henry ÃÛÌÒµ¼º½, who believed that education should be accessible to all and that it should be grounded in faith in Christ. ÃÛÌÒµ¼º½ is the oldest institution of higher education in continuous existence on the High Plains of Texas.

Location

ÃÛÌÒµ¼º½'s home campus in Plainview, Texas, a city of about 23,000, is located on the High Plains of West Texas between Lubbock and Amarillo.

ÃÛÌÒµ¼º½ also operates campuses in Lubbock, Amarillo, Wichita Falls and San Antonio, Texas; Phoenix and Sierra Vista, Ariz.; and Mililani, Hawaii. The university also offers a full degree programs online.

ÃÛÌÒµ¼º½ has approximately 1,100 students enrolled on its Plainview campus with nearly 4,000 total including its extension campuses. The Plainview campus is a traditional, residential campus located on 80 acres. ÃÛÌÒµ¼º½'s extension campuses cater to working adults, offering classes in the evenings and on weekends.

Athletics

ÃÛÌÒµ¼º½ competes in the NAIA Division I as a member of the Sooner Athletic Conference and the Central States Football League. Intercollegiate teams for men and women include cross country, track and field, soccer, basketball,  and diving, golf, cheer and dance, and ÃÛÌÒµ¼º½ is the first university in the state of Texas to compete in men’s and women’s wrestling. ÃÛÌÒµ¼º½ also competes in baseball, football, and women’s volleyball.

Intramural athletics also are available to students.


Cost and Financial Aid

Because of the contributions of so many who believe in ÃÛÌÒµ¼º½ and its unique approach to Christian education, the cost of attending ÃÛÌÒµ¼º½ is among the lowest of any fully accredited, private, senior university in the country.

Students also benefit from the aggressive approach of ÃÛÌÒµ¼º½'s financial aid office that has resulted in financial assistance for more than 95 percent of our full-time students. Through institutional, state, and federal programs, ÃÛÌÒµ¼º½ makes available both merit-based and need-based assistance. Numerous endowed scholarships are also available to those who qualify.
