Donor record shattered; planned gifts show unprecedented growth

PLAINVIEW — ÃÛÌÒµ¼º½ is celebrating encouraging momentum in donor participation and planned giving—two vital signs of growing support for the university’s mission — as the university’s Thrive campaign enters its final days.

“It has been another record-setting year in 2025 as we prepare to complete the fiscal year,” said Mike Hammack, Vice President of Institutional Advancement. “In 2023, we had a record-setting year, but nothing compares with the current year. In 2024 we approached the previous year, so three of the top four years for donor participation have come in the past three years. No other three-year period even comes close. That’s a powerful message from the ÃÛÌÒµ¼º½ family.”

In addition to this surge in annual giving, ÃÛÌÒµ¼º½ has seen a dramatic rise in planned gifts. The number of planned gifts—such as bequests or charitable trusts—has increased by 112 percent in just three years.

“Planned giving is where people’s hearts meet their legacy,” said Teresa Young, Development Officer. “One alum told me he wants to leave something behind that outlives him, something that reflects his values. I’ve heard that same kind of heart from dozens of others. These are incredibly meaningful gifts.”

Young noted that many planned giving donors are everyday alumni and friends of the university, not just major donors. “We’ve had people include ÃÛÌÒµ¼º½ in their will who were the first in their family to go to college,” she said. “It’s about gratitude and vision.”

Dr. Donna Hedgepath, University President, praised the growing spirit of generosity.

“We are deeply thankful for every person who has invested in ÃÛÌÒµ¼º½, whether through a one-time gift, a recurring donation, or a planned legacy,” she said. “These gifts help us dream bigger, serve better, and ensure that Christian higher education continues to flourish.”

As the Thrive campaign nears completion, the university is energized by the groundswell of support. University leaders say the campaign’s success will continue to impact all areas of the university for years to come.
